How Can I Grow As A Leader?
I know that many coaches when they start out are really concerned with leading a team. It’s scary you are just starting out and aren't exactly sure about how to successfully lead a team. It’s a legitimate concern. So today we are going to talk a little bit about how you can grow as a leader.

Becoming a leader is a lot like investing successfully in the stock market. If your hope is to make a fortune in a day, you are not going to be successful. What matters most is what you do day by day over the long haul. Leadership is a process, it is complicated. It has many facts: respect, experience, emotional strength, people skills, discipline, vision, momentum, timing- the list goes on.

Leadership is developed daily, not in a day- that is a reality. No matter where you’re starting from, you can get better.

There is an old saying: champions don’t become champions in the ring- they are merely recognized there. Boxing is a good analogy for leadership development.
One of my favorite quotes is by President Theodore Roosevelt.

“It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points how the strong man stumbled, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, and spends himself in a worthy cause; who, is at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.

Leaders grow by learning and growing. They improve themselves and in time become strong leaders. How do you grow as a leader?

11)    Read books on leadership. There are so many great books out there that are specifically about Leadership. Books by John C. Maxwell has quite a few, Dave Ramsey’s Entreleadership, and many others. I highly suggest reading these books to help you feel confidence stepping into a leadership position.
22)    Listen to podcasts or webinars. I highly recommend listening to the Dave Ramsey Entreleadership podcasts. You can listen to them when you are doing the dishes, driving in the car, etc. These podcasts are all based on leadership. You can also go through the National Wake Up Calls in the online office as well as webinars from the upline. They are all located in the files tab on the team page
33)    Most importantly step into the role. The best way to learn is to jump in both feet first. Yes you will stumble at times and may need to apologize for things you should have done, but you will learn so much. You can study til your brain hurts but the best thing to do is apply the leadership skills you use on a daily basis. Step into that position, be confident in your judgment. They trusted you enough to sign up as a coach under you so now you need to step up and point them in the right direction.

If you want to be a leader, the good news is you can do it. Everyone has the potential but it isn't accomplished overnight. It requires perseverance. You cannot ignore that becoming a leader is a process. Leadership is a continuous process.
